Setting Up Your Blog Pages and Posts

After you have spent some time customizing the look and feel of your blog you will want to start working on your pages and ultimately your blog posts (the articles you want to publish).

Generally speaking pages are used to hold content that tells your visitors about you, your blog, and how to contact you. Although, the sky really is the limit and it’s your discretion as to how you wish to use the pages feature on your new blog.

A post page is what you will use to publish your blog posts or articles and also gets filed under a category of your choice prior to publishing. You will also have the option to add tags to your posts. Tags are a handy feature that will enhance your readers’ experience and interlink your relative content. For example, if you add a tag called “Dogs” to 5 of your posts and someone clicks on that tag then all of those tagged posts will be presented to the reader. Cool!

This same sort of “tagging” principal applies to your blog categories. As a blogger it’s wise to choose categories that are most relevant for your content. You should consider using words that are very common in your niche so your readers can easily identify with them.

For example, if you are a pet blogger you may choose categories like: food, grooming, exercise, parks, breeders, etc.

Although pages and posts are different both offer up the ability for you to optimize them for search engines. You have the ability to optimize every single page and post that you publish on your blog.
